Academic Program Directory Design Sprint
EAB was hired to reimagine how academic programs are managed and displayed on the UMBC website. I planned, facilitated, and participated in a 5-day, remote design sprint intended to jumpstart the project and maximize collaborative thinking.

Areas of special consideration for the sprint:

  • How and where data is gathered and stored, 3rd party integrations

  • Overall site information architecture and site taxonomy

  • SEO performance

  • Functionality and navigation based on specific audience needs

  • Feasibility of development based on current and future needs

  • Content authorship and governance

After we shared the thinking generated by the design sprint the partner’s first response was, “I’m giddy!”

This project is currently underway. Our next step with UMBC is to do on-page content strategy and write copy for 20 of their priority programs. This creative work will run in parallel with the backend development of the program directory.
